Not of the Darkness

The Bible tells us that "God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness." Gen. 1:4; According to this account of spiritual creation, even before man was revealed, light and darkness were separated. Mrs. Eddy challenges in Science and Health: "Did infinite Mind create matter, and call it light? Spirit is light, and the contradiction of Spirit is matter, darkness, and darkness obscures light." Science and Health, p. 504;

In the ascending order of creation man exists as God's own image and likeness, the highest expression of the infinite. Thus man from the beginning is the child of light. In this spiritual man there is no darkness.

All forms of materiality, or evil, can be classified as the works of darkness. God did not create evil. He does not know it; nor does He support it. Whatever form error attempts to assume, be it sorrow, sin, sickness, or death, one can instantly rejoice in the knowledge that there is no God in it, that therefore it is separated from His likeness, man. It is only the false belief that evil is real and has power to attach itself to an individual.
