I would like to express gratitude for two healings that taught me many lessons. One of them took nearly six months before Truth dawned and I could see the diseased condition as nothing and never part of me. I manifested a skin condition on my hand, which eventually spread to the other hand. I do not know what the medical term would be, but it seemed to be rather alarming and very ugly to look at.

One of the lessons I needed to learn was not to be a "matter-physician, as Mrs. Eddy tells us in the textbook, Science and Health (p. 423): "The matter-physician deals with matter as both his foe and his remedy. He regards the ailment as weakened or strengthened according to the evidence which matter presents. The metaphysician, making Mind his basis of operation irrespective of matter and regarding the truth and harmony of being as superior to error and discord, has rendered himself strong, instead of weak, to cope with the case." I could see that I was being taken in by material sense testimony and must turn away and bear witness only to the truth of spiritual being. This meant seeing myself as a spiritual idea of God untouched by any blemish of error. I was having treatment from a Christian Science practitioner during this time.

Before I saw and understood these truths, things became worse. Then another problem presented itself to me. A lump that appeared on my body made walking extremely difficult, until finally I had to stay in bed.
