Trust in God's Guidance
We read in Proverbs, "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding." Prov. 3:5; But what reason do we have to believe that this is right advice that will truly help when we are in need?
Christian Science provides the answer with logic and proof. It teaches that God is Love and the creator and Father-Mother of man. Love is All and therefore supreme. As we reason from this basis, we see that we can safely trust that God's protection and guidance are available at all times and under all circumstances. A loving Father could never let His children suffer or wander aimlessly.
But why not "lean ... unto [our] own understanding"? Because if we are trusting in the Supreme Being, or divine Mind, there is no reason to rely on anything else. Experience proves that mere human reasoning can often lead to poor judgment and mistakes. Comfort comes from knowing that we can rely on a higher power, in fact, the only power, to guide us.
