It has been said that man's extremity is God's opportunity. I can bear witness to this fact and to the healing efficacy of Christian Science. About three years ago our then nineteen-year-old daughter was driving home, when suddenly she could not control her movements. She lost control of the car and bumped into a rural mailbox, knocking it down. When she came into the house, she had lost her equilibrium, and she kept bumping into things. I told her she could not ignore this problem but had to do something about it. She asked me to drive her to a doctor's office, where, after a rather cursory examination, we received the grim verdict that she had either a brain tumor or multiple sclerosis, and he put her in the hospital.

After being there three days without any improvement, our daughter asked me to take her home and call for help from a Christian Science practitioner. I phoned the doctor to tell him that we were going to turn to Christian Science for help. He painted a very black picture, stating that the girl would always have recurrences when she would be unable to work and that she would never be able to drive a car or engage in active sports again.

Upon arriving home I called a practitioner, who began treatment, declaring the truth that man as God's image and likeness is perfect and free now. We read to the girl every day from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and the practitioner came to see her almost daily. Our daughter had attended the Christian Science Sunday School from the age of three to eighteen and had seen many proofs of the healing power of God. In about three weeks this dear girl was completely healed, and the healing has been permanent. She is able to work steadily, drive a car well, ride a horse, and engage in any sport.
