My expression of gratitude for Mrs. Eddy for her years of patient work under God's guidance in founding the Christian Science movement is long overdue.

Mrs. Eddy tells us in Science and Health that "Love inspires, illumines, designates, and leads the way" (p. 454). Without being aware of this I was guided into the study of Christian Science through casually picking up the biography Mary Baker Eddy: A Life Size Portrait (1950 Edition) by Lyman P. Powell. It was lying on the librarian's desk in a public library. After reading it I was sure I had found the truth for which I had been searching.

Almost a year later I was healed in one treatment of hay fever, which had plagued me for fifteen years. During that time I had tried everything medicine had to offer, including needles, cauterizing of the nose tissues, and removal of tonsils. When the hay fever season came that year, the symptoms of hay fever began again, but after one treatment from a Christian Science practitioner I was healed and have never suffered from that difficulty since. This was twenty-five years ago.
