Harbingers of Healing
Christian Scientists look for symptoms, but these symptoms are not physical but mental. They are not symptoms of disease but of health. They are spiritual ideas and good thought qualities appearing in human consciousness—signs that humanity is awakening to the true, spiritual facts of being and that healing of disease and discord will shortly follow.
The true nature of man is invariably Godlike. Man is made in God's likeness, and he expresses God's perfection and wholeness. His substance is Spirit, and his identity is the reflection of Soul. God's law of perfection governs his being, and he can never really lose the health and harmony rightfully belonging to him as the individual representative of divine Principle.
The carnal mind, through hypnotic suggestion, would make men lose sight of this perfection of real being. It would make them believe that identity is buried in a material body, and that one is liable to express negative mortal qualities of character and entertain discordant beliefs in consciousness—sickly thoughts that could be manifested in sickly mental and bodily conditions and experience.
