The Present Includes No Past

"What time is it?" a father asked his little son. Looking at the clockface, which was a complete mystery to him, the boy pondered. Then he answered triumphantly, "It's exactly right now!" As an afterthought he added, "And now is the accepting time!"

Even though the apostle's words were, "Now is the accepted time," II Cor. 6:2; we cannot deny that the boy's statement was a positive declaration of truth. Under the marginal heading "Present salvation" Mrs. Eddy writes, "Now is the time for so-called material pains and material pleasures to pass away, for both are unreal, because impossible in Science." Science and Health, p. 39; We will never find a better time than right now to claim our heritage as God's spiritual children.

And does this present moment include a past? Of course not, or it would not be the present. The past is simply a finite belief we are presently holding on to, and as quickly as it takes to let go, we can decide to start freeing ourselves from its effects. Christ Jesus said, "Let the dead bury their dead." Matt. 8:22; Let past beliefs bury their own memory.
