I had the privilege of growing up in a home where Christian Science was loved and lived. However, it was not until I was far away from home and at college that I really found out how to demonstrate Christian Science myself.

A painful growth appeared on one of my small toes, which, at first, I ignored. As it became more painful and I began to limp slightly, I realized that this was not going to be healed merely by wishful thinking. I saw that here was an opportunity to demonstrate my own understanding of how Christian Science heals. I used every moment away from classes to study our textbooks, the Bible and Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and to pray. I stopped looking at the toe and began to fill my thought with the positive acknowledgment of God's goodness and His perfect creation. I saw more clearly than ever before man's unity with God as His expression. It became clear to me that as the spiritual likeness of the one, perfect God I could experience no discord.
