How Big Can You Think?

[For children]

The quickest way to become a big brother or sister is to have a new baby come to live at your house. A tiny baby calls for big thinking by even the youngest member of a family. Thinking big is a lot of fun, especially if you have Christian Science to teach you how.

Little thinking begins and ends with the word "me." It is selfish and always wants attention. Big thinking is caring for everyone, not just yourself. Big thinking is unselfish. It is always loving and good because it comes from the Mind that is God, or Love, or good. Mind is so big that it is All-in-all. It is big enough to be expressed by tiny babies, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and friends. It is big enough to include everyone everywhere, because there is nothing outside of All.

A little child who suddenly finds he has become a big brother or sister can think as big as any grown-up. He can learn to share. What can he share? He can share his mom and dad with the new baby, who is very little and helpless, just as he himself used to be. He can share some of his toys with the new baby, and be willing to wait for it to learn how to play with them and with him. He can share love with the new baby, because love for one another is one way God, Love, reaches, encircles, and protects each of His children. You see, a child's thinking is as big as the truths he knows.
