Creative Business
The accelerating tempo of modern technology is transforming the world of business. Complex computers race through problems with astonishing speed. Unprecedentedly streamlined methods are replacing slower systems of operation. This progressive development is freeing people from the tedium of obsolete routines. It is providing them with the challenge and the time to think creatively about their work.
It is safe to say that the most important commodity in business today is progressive human concepts. Many firms are turning to professional consultants whose sole function is to ideate, to discover fresh concepts that will bring new life and expansion. Christian Scientists welcome this development as an indication of mental awakening, insofar as greater value is placed upon creative changes than on static conditions. The highly prized individual in business is the one whose thinking is original, useful, and practical.
But what is the source of progressive thinking? Does the source transcend the human mind? What is inspiration? Christian Science holds that the source of constructive thoughts does indeed of transcend the human mind. It teaches that any veritable, workable thought is something more than a concept derived from a mechanism called the brain. It shows the action in human consciousness of the omniscient intelligence called divine Mind. This Mind, Christian Science avers, is God. As we yield our human thinking to the action of the divine intelligence, it becomes substantial, beneficial, and expansive. Hence Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, makes this statement in Miscellaneous Writings: "God gives you His spiritual ideas, and in turn, they give you daily supplies."
