When a severe illness threatened my life recently, I stayed very close to these angel thoughts: God sees me as His perfect child, and I must prove this to be the absolute truth. A passage from the Bible helped me (Ps. 118:17): "I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." The twenty-third Psalm was also a great comfort.

A loving friend and practitioner was called to help me. She voiced this statement to me from Science and. Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 447): "The recuperative action of the system, when mentally sustained by Truth, goes on naturally."

Not once during this time did the suggestion come to me to submit to material means for healing, although the condition was very alarming. I saw this experience as a needed lesson. Many limited and fearful beliefs were uncovered in my thinking. This purification of self has been an inspiration to me, and the healing has been complete.
