For over fifty years I have had many proofs of the healing power of Christian Science. Through its study I have gained a deeper understanding of God, of Christ Jesus, and of man's relationship to God. Former queries concerning God and man have been answered, and Jesus' statement (John 8:32) "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" has been proved.

An early experience of an instantaneous healing of crushed and damaged hands stands out as sure evidence of the immediate healing power of Truth. After the accident I sat down and recalled the statements brought out in the Lesson-Sermon, which I had just been reading in the Christian Science Quarterly. The truth that man is perfect and that every idea of God remains perfect in Mind came back to me as I sat there. I realized that the truth of spiritual being never changes, that neither a period of time nor an accident can ever change Truth, which remains inviolate, intact, and untouched by mortal beliefs. Mrs. Eddy writes: "Nothing can interfere with the harmony of being nor end the existence of man in Science. Man is the same after as before a bone is broken or the body guillotined" (Science and, Health, p. 427). After a few minutes I looked at my hands, lying folded on my lap, and they were normal. All evidence of the appalling condition had disappeared, the cuts and damage were healed, and swelling and discoloration were gone. Through this early experience I was encouraged to know that Truth does heal and to appreciate the invaluable benefit of the daily study of the Lesson-Sermon.

A prolonged physical problem gave me the opportunity to put into practice qualities of patience and perseverance. Eventually, through an awakened sense of the Christ message, the physical difficulty of an internal nature gave way, and I was healed.
