One of the healings that have meant forward steps in my study of Christian Science and have been outstanding to me is a healing that gave me a clearer understanding of the spiritual sense of vision.

Some years ago in Colorado we had an unusually heavy snowstorm while the trees were still in leaf. There was a great deal of damage to the trees and much debris to be cleared away from our grounds. While I was trying to help with this work and breaking up some fallen limbs, a small branch snapped off forcefully into one of my eyes. There was much pain, evidences of impaired vision, and other disturbing symptoms.

Immediately I began work to know that true vision is spiritual and cannot be impaired by accident. The following statements from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy were of help (p. 424): "Accidents are unknown to God, or immortal Mind, and we must leave the mortal basis of belief and unite with the one Mind, in order to change the notion of chance to the proper sense of God's unerring direction and thus bring out harmony," and "Under divine Providence there can be no accidents, since there is no room for imperfection in perfection."
