Christian Science Church Center

PROGRESS REPORT No. 32

Visitors to this year's Annual Meeting of The Mother Church can look forward to being sidewalk superintendents. The Church Center building project is leaving the foundation stage and entering the skyline phase. This spring every new building but one is on its way up. Foundation work soon will be completed for the Colonnade Building, and early this summer it, too, will reach skyward. June will be a good time to get a view of the shape of things to come!

Even a special sidewalk is provided for visiting "superintendents." On the south side of The Mother Church and Extension, adjacent to Falmouth Street, the sidewalk has been shored up next to the deep excavation for the new underground garage.

This area next to the Church is the last to be excavated. A major sewer line first had to be moved away from the Church before the final portion of the garage foundation could be laid, but the adjustment is finally complete. Now it is possible to locate the garage most conveniently. When the garage is in operation, it will mean that those attending church can ride escalators from the parking level directly up to the foyer of the Extension.
