For some years my husband and I had been searching for a reasonable, satisfactory understanding of God. One day a copy of The Christian Science Monitor was mailed to us. All morning I read the paper and at noon met my husband with the paper in hand. "This is a remarkable paper!" I exclaimed. "Note the perfect English. Look! No liquor advertisements, no tobacco, no murders. It leaves a clean taste in one's mouth. A church that can get out such a paper has something, and I shall attend their services next Sunday and find out what it is."

On returning home the following Sunday, I said, "This is what we are looking for, I believe." We both attended services the following Sunday. That was almost fifty years ago. That one copy of the Monitor brought twelve people into Christian Science. Three became Readers in branch churches and one became a practitioner.

The first healings I recall were those of constipation and eczema, from which one of our daughters had been suffering. At this time the child was also healed of gumboils and a boil on her arm.
