Christian Science was presented to me over thirty-five years ago when a friend was instantaneously healed by Christian Science after his doctor in consultation with two other doctors told his wife that they could do no more for him and that her husband could not live more than three or four days. After this verdict she obtained her husband's consent to ask a Christian Science practitioner for help. The practitioner came to their home and talked with the patient for about an hour.

When the practitioner left, my friend fell into a natural sleep, something he had not done for some time. Several hours later he awakened very hungry and asked his wife to cook him a steak. Inasmuch as he had not been able to retain any solid food for some time, she hesitated to do this. She phoned his doctor, who told her to do as asked because her husband would not retain it and that it would not hasten the end. She went out to get the steak, and when she returned, she found him up and dressed. He ate the steak without any bad results and was not only instantaneously healed of the disease but also of his appetite for alcoholic drinks and tobacco.

This man, a successful architect, had become an alcoholic and through neglect of his business had lost all his clients and most of his friends and was forced to close his office. After his healing he resumed the practice of his profession, regained his clients and friends, and became a member of The Mother Church and a branch church.
