Unceasing gratitude to God for the teachings of Christian Science and for Mrs. Eddy impels me to write this testimony of a healing which took place several years ago. I had been suffering for some time from a functional disorder, accompanied with alarming symptoms. A consecrated Christian Science practitioner was treating me. Following an accident in the place where I was working, I lost consciousness. The women with whom I was working took me to a doctor's office. Upon examining me he told me that I had to undergo an immediate operation for a fibroma. Upon hearing this unjust sentence I remembered the Biblical verse (Ezek. 13:3): "Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!"

I called the practitioner, and we continued to pray as we are taught in Christian Science, knowing that there is one God, that His creation is perfect, and that a material belief of discord could not annul the spiritual truth of my being. A passage from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, that impressed me and that I studied and prayed about was (p. 209), "Materialsubstances or mundane formations, astronomical calculations, and all the paraphernalia of speculative theories, based on the hypothesis of material law or life and intelligence resident in matter, will ultimately vanish, swallowed up in the infinite calculus of Spirit."

Soon the erroneous mental state gave way to a higher concept of my real being and of all men, and with this renewal or mental change the healing took place.
