When I was asked to accept a church committee appointment recently...
When I was asked to accept a church committee appointment recently, I was happy to do so without hesitation, for once through church committee activities I experienced a healing I had been unable to bring about in any other way.
I was born, it seems, with a respiratory defect, and from birth had been given the best medical treatment available. The verdict was that I would probably outgrow it, and for a while so it seemed. However, it returned, and for many years would come and go. I gradually accepted the condition as part of myself.
In my late teens I began attending a Christian Science church. I was not searching for healing but seeking to understand the reason for existence. It was a long time before I began to study the Bible Lessons and actually joined the church. At various times thereafter I sought the help of Christian Science practitioners for the respiratory problem, and each time my condition improved; but eventually the condition would return.
