MY PRAYER
The things I have known
as the mother of three!
The things I have done—
Shot a gun, flown a plane,
Made a dive with a sub, designed a house,
Been so high up a mountain, on a horse,
I had to get off and walk;
Driven an ambulance, marched in a parade,
Been special guest of VIP's,
Been to parties,
I had lots of fun.
These count not one jot with God,
When done!
Now I have learned—
I can be only where God wants me to be;
I can see only what He wants me to see;
Do only what He wants me to do.
Know only what He wants me to know,
And most of all,
Love only what He wants me to love:
His creation, my brother and myself,
Our divine natures
Expressed in selfless ways,
In humility, patience, order, praise;
Working and praying to understand
"Thy will be done"!
