I have always had the feeling that I needed the Bible and have always enjoyed reading it. As a part of my early training in Sweden there was daily reading of the Bible at home and Bible reading in school every morning. The reading of the Bible when a group gathered together was a natural, accepted, and important part of our family life.

When I was a girl, I remember a time when I was very ill. I was afraid that I would pass on, and my greatest concern was that my father would be left alone. I stayed in bed that day but awoke the next morning feeling free. I had the conviction that all was well. I recalled this at the time when my father threw out all the medicines after my mother had received no help from them.

Events paved the way for me to take up Christian Science. Later I was one of the housekeepers in a large home, and one with whom I was working told me of her healing of a cold through prayer. Her statement that "God is Love" meant much to me. My early training at home made it natural for me to take up the study of Christian Science, for I felt instinctively that this was the right thing to do. I have since relied wholly on this Science and have had many healings. Twice I was so ill that I would do some of the necessary kitchen work and then go to bed and read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. Then I went back again to do the work that had to be done. In each case I was well the next day.
