Relief from Pressure

At times the demands on us appear to be more than we can cope with. Perhaps we are faced with several demands at the same time. We may feel that we are not capable of meeting the requirements of a particular demand, or we do not have enough time to carry them out. Yet most of the demands are legitimate and must be fulfilled. How to fulfill them efficiently and without any sense of pressure is the question. Christian Science shows us how to do it.

Through this Science we learn that the sense of pressure which burdens us is a product of the mortal, or carnal, mind, of the belief of life and intelligence in matter. Mortal mind formulates and dictates its demands. Never satisfied, it always demands more and more. As long as we believe that we are mortals, we make ourselves subject to mortal mind's impositions.

To gain our freedom, we must rise above the mortal sense of life to the spiritual by recognizing that Life is God, not in or of matter; that man is the spiritual manifestation of God expressing boundless Life, not a physical mortal pressured by materiality. As we do so, a wonderful sense of peace and harmony fills our consciousness. This state of consciousness is not euphoria induced by wishful reasoning. It is the conscious realization of what man really is and what is truly required of him.
