THE HEALING OF THE MAN WITH THE WITHERED HAND

Matthew 12:10-13

Had he felt along the walls of ignorance,
Invoking tribal gods from out his need,
All but his hope withering to impotence
While importuning health from barren seed?
Then, within the temple gates, one short command
From Jesus, who reached beyond termini to impart
The boundlessness of Love: "Stretch forth thine hand."
And healing came to the expectant heart.
So, seeker, through the world and down the days,
It only echoes reply to the cry of fear,
And fingers falter groping in a maze,
The kingdom that he promised man is here.
No withering occurs within this land.
Its fruits belong to all: "Stretch forth thine hand"!
