I am very grateful for Christian Science because of the continuing unfoldment of good which has been mine; and I am more grateful each day for healings as I realize more fully the power of the Word of God.
I first came into the study of Science before our baby was born. I was afraid to have a baby, having listened to talk to the effect that I was too old to have my first child. The fear left with the first Christian Science treatment, and the period of pregnancy and birth was most harmonious. The baby was robust and beautiful.
I am glad to say that my husband was in accord with Christian Science. He raised no objections to my study, and the time came when he asked for help in Christian Science and received it again and again. I think especially of a certain healing when my husband was stung by bees while cutting hay. The bees really got after him, and there was hardly a place on his body that was not stung. He was unable to get to the house, and so crawled under a bush in trying to avoid them. There I found him in a semiconscious condition. I called a practitioner for treatment for him.
I seemed to be impressed with the thought of inflammation and was very fearful. I remembered that Mrs. Eddy, in Science and Health, refers to "fear" in part, as "inflammation" (p. 586). I was grateful to realize that God does not know fear. He can't be fearful, for God is Love, and St. John says (I John 4: 18), "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." At once the belief of infection, which seemed so much in evidence, failed to mesmerize me and I was at peace. Shortly I noticed a decided change for the better, and in an hour my husband was free from pain and resting peacefully.
In a few days all evidence of sores had disappeared, and there were no bad results. I was told by a medical nurse that frequently this sort of accident results in death. We were most grateful for proof that Truth does heal quickly.
Through the years we have seen the healing of measles, chicken pox, toothache, pleurisy, and other troubles. Also, lost articles have been found by applying Truth as we are taught in Christian Science.
I am grateful to have found Christian Science and to have seen it prove itself so bountifully. I am grateful for our great Master, Christ Jesus, and for his faithful follower, Mrs. Eddy. Membership in The Mother Church and a branch church is a blessing.
