As man's knowledge of the universe grows, the Scriptural view of God becomes more, not less believable, an Australian educator said here this week.
"I see no conflict between science and religion," said Dr. James H. Jauncey, president of Kenmore Christian College, Brisbane....
He said there no longer is a "head-on collision" between science and religion.
"It's generally recognized now that the findings of science just throw more light on the Bible and on religious matters....
"I've heard the Bible described as a book that was inspired when it was originally written," he said. "I think it's still inspired because through it, God speaks to man."
Dr. Jauncey said the religious consciousness of scientists is one of the features of our times. "A generation ago only 8 percent of scientists were church members, now it's more like 80 percent....
"If the idea of God is going to be meaningful, it must mean that a person has such an awareness of God that this does direct and influence his life," he said.

What is the trumpet call of the Christian Church today but an invitation to the heights of spiritual aspiration and holy endeavor? It comes to us in the valley where we most need it, and on the plain in the midst of our conflicts and struggles, calling us in strains of tenderness and love to the greater altitudes in living and to richer experiences in humanitarian service....
The person of insight and foresight, no matter what his occupation or calling may be, regards everything that comes his way in the light of spiritual values. The greater things of life are ever ahead of us.
In this the best philosophy and the truest and purest science are one. The hope of our age is not in political sagacity or power, but in the strength that controls the universe, the living eternal God, and in the gospel of His love.
It is an old, old story. It is at once old and new, and the beauty of it lies in the significant fact that it is not for the chosen few, as many suppose, but for the whole world and every age.
