I should like to share one of the many healings I have received since learning of Christian Science. I was riding in a car with someone who apparently dozed a moment at the wheel. We suddenly hit the car ahead of us, and the car we were riding in turned over several times. I immediately turned to God with the thought that He is my Life and is right where the thought of accident appears so real. I clung to the truth that nothing could separate me from God's loving care. Paul's message to the Romans emphasizes this (8:38, 39): "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
I was able to crawl out a window of the car and walk to a farmers house to phone for help. I was composed at all times until I reached home, where the news had arrived and friends came to express loving concern. Before long I began experiencing the symptoms of whatever it was they feared should follow, and by morning I could scarcely breathe because of the severe pain.
Members of my family, who do not understand Christian Science, became so fearful that they insisted on a physician's examination. I asked them to phone a Christian Science practitioner to help me through prayer and to wait an hour so that Christian Science treatment might be shown to be the only help needed. They lovingly agreed, and within a half hour I was fine and up preparing a crate of cherries for canning. That evening I attended a rehearsal and two days later sang a solo at a large gathering.
