MINISTRY
A fellow worker needed comforting
And other help as well.
I planned to do some fine outstanding thing
To augment my esteem,
And then I fell
Into the same mesmeric dream—
Believing in the scarcity of good—
For I lacked time to practice brotherhood.
I turned to God to free
My thought, and it was lifted up to see
That God's own presence comforts man
And guides each altruistic plan.
Then I was shown my part,
To do a kindly act with all my heart,
And in my doing of
This simple thing we both were healed by Love.
Hereafter I shall choose
A selfless service for a needy one,
And when it is in meekness done,
I shall be worthy to unlatch his shoes.
And I shall see a healing sign
To prove Love's ministry divine.
