I did not come to Christian Science for healing
I did not come to Christian Science for healing. I had for many years been seeking the answer to the question, What is the meaning of life and of God and man?
About five years ago I was led to borrow the book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy from the local library. I knew that this book contained the answer to my question. I soon bought my own copy of the textbook from a Christian Science Reading Room, as well as some other works by Mrs. Eddy.
I had been reading only a few months when I had my first healing. It was instantaneous. I felt sick one day and thought it was influenza. I knew that I would try Christian Science, though I had known nothing of its power to heal before I started reading Science and Health. As my home was thirty miles from the Reading Room, I wrote to the librarian for advice as to whether I should call a Christian Science practitioner.
