When I was about nine years old, our family had many troubles. My father and mother were ill. Our business was poor. I had eczema on both hands, and the doctor said they would not heal until I was twenty. The light of Christian Science came into this darkness at just the right moment.

My mother had always been interested in religion, so she now turned to God, and He showed her the way. She met a Christian Scientist who lived in Finland.

I was enrolled in the Christian Science Sunday School, and I talked about my hands to my teacher. She began to pray for me, and I called her every day. She always encouraged me and talked to me about God. The Lord's Prayer with its spiritual interpretation on pages 16 and 17 in our textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, proved to be a great blessing, especially the sentences:
