A Search in the Snow
[For children]
Eric felt as unhappy as he looked. While he sat next to his sister in the back seat of the car, he silently stared at the whirling snowflakes rushing past the window.
"How careless I was to lose the skate guard from one of my new skates!" he thought.
He remembered how clearly his father had instructed him to care for his new present, reminding him always to place the guards on his skates before leaving the park. Now one was missing. He noticed how deeply the snow had been piling up since he left the park yesterday, and wondered how he would ever locate such a small thing under all that snow.
