Improving the World's Institutions

One of Christ Jesus' last commands was, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15;

It is fairly well known today that Christian Science is helping restore to Christendom the element of physical healing. The wholeness, or completeness, of man, which is represented by a condition of health, is one of the inevitable results of an understanding of God.

But one who is studying Christian Science learns that its redemptive purpose extends far beyond the healing of disease. It would be an incomplete demonstration of the coming of the Christ for religion to concern itself only with physical healing, just as it was an incomplete sense of Christianity that once seemed to be preoccupied with a consideration of mankind's sins. The Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mrs. Eddy, states, "Now, as then, signs and wonders are wrought in the metaphysical healing of physical disease; but these signs are only to demonstrate its divine origin, —to attest the reality of the higher mission of the Christ-power to take away the sins of the world."
