The two healings related in this testimony took place within the last two years and clearly show how the teachings of Christian Science enable one to handle error.

My youngest son had a dry cough which bothered him greatly whenever the east wind blew. When the cough reached the point of severity, prayerful work would be done in Science and the condition would soon be relieved. Then the cough began appearing whenever the weather got crisp and cold; and finally, it appeared whenever the weather was foggy or damp. This went on over a period of several years, occasionally becoming an acute problem.

One day I noticed he was beginning to cough, but the weather was not windy, damp, or cold. I said to myself, "Well, what excuse are you going to find for it this time?" Mentally I arose in great indignation that I had allowed this insidious error to handle me for so long. Audibly I stated powerful truths, insisted on man's rights as God's beloved child, clung tenaciously to the truth of man's spiritual, perfect being, and finished my prayer with confidence and the knowledge that the work was done. The healing was an instantaneous one. There has been no return of this problem. I learned from this experience that as a student of Christian Science I should not become so engrossed in community service and good works, no matter how beneficial to mankind they may be, that I forget to put first things first.
