Father-Mother God, the Only Parent
Through Christian Science, parents can gain an understanding of the perfect relationship always existing between God and their children. John states the relationship thus: "Beloved, now are we the sons of God." John 3:2: Parents can realize that as God's spiritual ideas their children can be in no place or circumstance outside God's care. This knowledge brings assurance, as well as human evidence that all is well.
Mrs. Eddy writes: "God creates and governs the universe, including man. The universe is filled with spiritual ideas, which He evolves, and they are obedient to the Mind that makes them." Science and Health, p. 295; As Christian Science reveals, man is not in matter; he lives and functions harmoniously in Spirit. The identity of each idea is known to the Father and is forever distinctive and necessary for the complete expression of Himself.
Mankind often seem unwilling to forgo their claim to parentage. A sense of possession in regard to children brings with it many trials. Parents' concern for their children comprises much of the fear in the world today. In fact, mother love often arouses fear of ailments for a child that the mother would not entertain for herself.
