To Communicate the Truth

Everyone who finds some evidence of the truth of being feels impelled to communicate what he knows to others. His eagerness to do so will be in the measure of his actual understanding of this evidence. People who have found Christian Science, the absolute truth of being, are among the eager ones. They know that this Science, which Mary Baker Eddy discovered in 1866, is the same spiritual truth that Christ Jesus taught and proved centuries ago. It healed then, and it heals now, for the truth acts as a law of destruction to error, or the negative experience of the mortal sense of existence.

Jesus described himself to the Pharisees as "a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God." John 8:40; He went on shortly to explain that the devil, or evil, does not abide in the truth "because there is no truth in him." The truth is the actuality of things, the state of being the case; and error is the lie about it. Every healing Jesus brought about demonstrated the true state of being. Nothing could have convinced people more vividly of the existence of spiritual truth than the Master's healing proofs of what he was telling his listeners—things he had received from the Father.

And what had he received? The revelation that God is the only Father of man; the consequent truth that man is the perfect child of God, not fleshly or mortal but spiritual and immortal; the fact that sin, disease, and death, blindness, deafness, dumbness, deformity, and other ills are not the will of God, hence not the truth. Jesus healed multitudes by knowing these revolutionary things.
