Expectant Unfoldment

Christian Science teaches that man—one's true selfhood—is always God's perfect, spiritual reflection. Many new students of this Science have healing experiences when they apply this truth, and they are spurred to deeper study to find the real meaning of it. The insistent question needing an answer is, "Can we always expect healings to take place, or is a healing what many call a miracle?"

Bible students are familiar with such stories as those of Christ Jesus healing the ten lepers and Paul restoring to life the young man who had fallen from a third-story window. But Christian Science explains these stories as illustrations of the law of God in operation and, what is most important, as applicable today.

In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy makes this enlightening statement: "It is not well to imagine that Jesus demonstrated the divine power to heal only for a select number or for a limited period of time, since to all mankind and in every hour, divine Love supplies all good."Science and Health, p. 494; This bears out Jesus' words, "These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."Mark 16:17, 18; Through the practice of Christianity as taught by Jesus, all can expect continuous as well as immediate experiences of healing in daily life.
