With the hope that my experience...

With the hope that my experience may help encourage others, I should like to relate a healing of blindness in one eye through relying on the teachings of Christian Science.

One day while working in a town some two hundred miles from my home, I suddenly noticed that I had no vision in one eye. At first I became almost panic-stricken because the other eye had also become troublesome and greatly impaired my vision. Then, after praying for guidance, I thought of a statement from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy I had used many times in working out other problems (p. 304): "Divine Principle is the Life of man." Reassured, I continued praying earnestly to realize more fully its meaning and to understand specifically that the faculty of spiritual vision is eternally present in the divine Mind, and that I continuously reflected this faculty. After dwelling on these truths for some time, I was enabled to return to my home.

At this point the thought came to me that it was imperative for me to cease accepting this mortal mind suggestion based upon physical sense testimony and, instead, to pray that the Christ, Truth, would reveal what I needed to know. In Science and Health we find this definition (p. 586): "Eyes. Spiritual discernment,—not material but mental."
