Several years ago I had an experience that proved to me that infection is not physical but mental. A horse I was riding reared up and threw me off while falling over backward itself. My husband, who was standing nearby said it looked as if the mare turned herself in the air to avoid landing on me. I lost consciousness and awoke to find a woman bending over me. She had been riding by and came to help. She said she was a nurse and that I had a bad bump on my head. She spoke of the symptoms of concussion and told me to see a doctor if I experienced any of them.

My husband helped me home, and because he was concerned over my condition, he urged me to call a Christian Science practitioner for help. Although I am used to doing my own prayerful work, I finally agreed because I felt it would help calm the fears of my family. I am deeply grateful for the loving and effective work done by the practitioner.

No one else I knew was willing to wash my head and the wound unless I agreed to take medication or a shot to ward off infection. This I could not agree to do, so my husband washed it off as well as he could.
