Mary Baker Eddy says on page 330 of Miscellaneous Writings, "It is good to talk with our past hours, and learn what report they bear, and how they might have reported more spiritual growth." I feel in my case that these hours might well have reported more spiritual growth, for I have allowed a period of half a century to elapse between my last published testimony and this one. During this long period I have had many, many proofs of the healing power of divine Love, brought about by the application of the teachings of Christian Science. Some of these healings have been with the help of Christian Science practitioners; others, under God's guidance, resulted from my own work. For the spiritual growth I have achieved, I am most grateful.

One outstanding healing was that of pneumonia in a serious form at the time of the flu epidemic which swept the world after the great war of 1914-18. A medical certificate was required to support absence from work. The doctor who examined me regarded my case as critical and insisted on my immediate removal to hospital. This seemed the wisest thing to do as I was living away from home and no nursing care was available in the house where I was living. I had been able to get in touch with a Christian Science practitioner who was faithfully praying for my recovery and who continued to pray after I was admitted to hospital. The medical staff there took a serious view of the case and directed that my relatives be sent for.

The hospital was one in which medical students were given clinical demonstrations, and my case was selected as being suitable for this. The medical students, in due course, assembled around the bed, but the professor (who had previously examined me and selected my case) found that the disease had vanished. I was healed, and the class was dismissed. Some alarm was expressed by the medical faculty at the sudden drop in my temperature from a dangerously high point to normal; but after an exhaustive examination the medical staff decided that all was well, and I was soon back home again.
