I listened to an address delivered to a congregation in this neighborhood, in which the speaker voiced belief that those who would look for miracles today were only courting disillusionment and disappointment.

The opposite position was taken by a senior minister of the church with whom I discussed this issue. He stated that in his judgment the church still has power to heal the sick and related an incident in his ministry where a child was apparently miraculously healed in response to prayer. "It's a question of faith," he said.
