RADIO PROGRAM NO. 342-The Healing of Hate

[The participants are Michael Thorneloe, who is active in the healing ministry of Christian Science, and Arthur Williams, a physicist who is not a Christian Scientist.]

Questioner: Hatred certainly is very difficult to live with, as I found out not long ago when I distributed pamphlets concerning a very unpopular American political issue. Because of the emotions aroused by the issue, and perhaps because my hair was somewhat long, I could feel the hatred directed at me. What do you think people confronted with hate can do about it?

Speaker: Basically, we have to see that the individual who's doing the hating needs help. This is all too difficult to recognize sometimes. But help can come in a way that's been known for centuries, as the Bible brings out very clearly. Christ Jesus expressed it in no uncertain terms when he said (Matt. 5:44, 45), "Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; that ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven."
