Love—The Antidote for Tyranny

Deep, unselfed spiritual love counteracts effectively the tyranny of mortal mind. Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, speaking in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures of the time when mankind will understand God and His incorporeality, states: "Religion will then be of the heart and not of the head. Mankind will no longer be tyrannical and proscriptive from lack of love,—straining out gnats and swallowing camels." Science and Health, p. 140:

A large proportion of the heartache and disease among mankind today is based on some form of tyranny: the tyranny of one person under the influence of the carnal mind over another or a group, the tyranny of one nation over another, the tyranny of evil over good, the tyranny of immorality and lust over purity, and on and on. Love—spiritual love—is the answer. Mortal mind cannot tyrannize when love is lived. The tyranny of ignorance causes many a heartache and much hopelessness. The individual reflection of Love refreshes, stimulates, energizes, inspires, strengthens.

When mankind love sufficiently, when their hearts burn within them to serve their fellowmen and their Maker and to follow the teachings of Christian Science, tyranny will completely fade from the human scene.
