"Be allied to the deific power"
Emerson said, "Hitch your wagon to a star." After quoting these words, Mrs. Eddy writes, "I say, Be allied to the deific power, and all that is good will aid your journey, as the stars in their courses fought against Sisera. (Judges v. 20.)" Unity of Good, p. 17;
In Christian Science we learn that prayer will ally us with the divine forces and lift our lives and experiences higher than our limited concepts of power and harmonious activity permit. Prayer opens our thought to what is possible with God. "Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory," Matt. 6:13; we pray in the words of the Lord's Prayer.
The Lord's Prayer is a source of prompt help. Mrs. Eddy writes of it, "Our Master said, 'After this manner therefore pray ye,' and then he gave that prayer which covers all human needs." Science and Health, p. 16; With this source for the immediate answer to every right desire, why should we ever let it lie unused in our consciousness?
