Patient Persistence

Have we faced some physical challenge for a period of time prayerfully seeking healing with no visible result? Are we battling a half-healed state of thinking? Then it is time for a wealth of patient persistence and a fresh approach to the proving of the perfection of God and His blessed idea, man.

Patient persistence is not a passive or wishful state of thought. It is an active, courageous conviction that all is well, regardless of the human picture. Our Master, Christ Jesus, was a great example of patient persistence. In Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes, "Jesus patiently persisted in teaching and demonstrating the truth of being." Science and Health, pp. 136, 137; Jesus patiently persisted, or stood firmly, in the face of obstacles and opposition. He patiently taught and demonstrated the truth of being, undisturbed by the challenges of mortal sense.

Are we following in the footsteps of our Way-shower, Christ Jesus? Are we standing firmly, expectant of all good, undisturbed by any attempt of discordant conditions to defy the ever-presence of God, good?
