I was a Protestant by birth
I was a Protestant by birth. For years I was addicted to smoking and drinking and was always ill. I kept these habits and suffered ill health for a long time in spite of some knowledge of the Bible.
In 1959 a friend, whose character and integrity I admired, gave me Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, the textbook of Christian Science.
In my distress and in view of the situation in which I found myself, I set out to find out exactly what Christian Science is. As I read the textbook, I realized that Mrs. Eddy had revealed Truth to humanity. And Christian Science is indeed the truth which Christ Jesus referred to when he said (John 8:31, 32), "If ye continue in my word, are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
