ELIM
Exodus 15:27
At Elim were twelve wells
and seventy palm trees—
sweet water and shade for the wanderer.
A pleasant encampment it made,
after the days of no water
and after the bitter of Marah—
yet here was no place for stopping.
"Speak unto the children of Israel,
that they go forward,"
is God's perpetual command.
Love limits undue delay,
a too long lingering in improved belief,
and prompts wise pressing on
to bliss unencumbered by matter,
the knowing of Spirit as All.
