Christian Science was in my childhood home, and for some years...
Christian Science was in my childhood home, and for some years I turned to it on occasion for help; but there were other influences at work, and my dependence on it grew more and more intermittent until after a time I was not among those who remained to work and pray. Years later, ill and in almost constant pain, I began to think often of Mrs. Eddy's words, "I am constantly homesick for heaven" (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 177), and so was led to take up again the study of this mighty religion.
The physical healings which resulted are many, but my deepest gratitude is for the beginning of a rebirth of thought. The deep joy and the dear sense of spiritual Life, Truth, and Love that have come from a glimpse of the realm of Spirit are without price. Each day begins in prayer and gratitude.
I have had much help and healing through the study of the Scriptures and Mrs. Eddy's writings and through the devoted work of a relative who is a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science. My professional work improved and many physical difficulties have been healed, among them migraine. A painful back condition of long duration, for which I previously had had constant medical attention, was healed instantly as I spoke to my relative about it during a long-distance telephone call. Chronic constipation was healed through her spiritual ministration. There was also a healing of a dislocation in my knee and badly ruptured cartilage that caused lameness and constant pain. The medical opinion had been that I faced a long or perhaps permanent continuance of this condition.
