Jesus said (Matt. 11:28), "Come unto me, all ye that labour...
Jesus said (Matt.11:28), "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." The fact that there is a God who is Love makes me very happy. Christian Science proclaims to the world the truth that God is infinite Love. With deep gratitude I should like to thank God for the great love and goodness which He has bestowed on me. A few years ago I was overcome by weakness and emaciation, which were very obstinate.
One day, while on our vacation trip, which my husband and I undertook in spite of my illness, there appeared in addition to this weakness a cramplike condition that immobilized my hand. I was also suffering from sleeplessness, and I had lost my appetite. Often during sleepless nights, I was discouraged. But it nevertheless became clear to me that thinking filled with anxiety and fear cannot hear God's guidance. I turned wholly to God as my healer, and my husband supported me lovingly as I dwelt in thought on the true man.
A passage from the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, reads (p. 403): "You command the situation if you understand that mortal existence is a state of self-deception and not the truth of being. Mortal mind is constantly producing on mortal body the results of fake opinions; and it will continue to do so, until mortal error is deprived of its imaginary powers by Truth, which sweeps away the gossamer web of mortal illusion." This passage made me see clearly that I was too concerned with my body. I had to remodel my thinking. I recognized not only that I must have good thoughts but also that I must give right thoughts expression. It was an experience that taught me to get to know myself. This demanded not only courage but also patience. Jesus said (Matt. 7:7), "Ask, and it shall be given you." I prayed fervently for understanding. When I started to uplift my thoughts by doing prayerful work as I had learned to do during class instruction, a great unfoldment began. The effect was healing, and today I feel better than ever.
