The first time I called on a Christian Science practitioner for help with a severe physical problem, I received an instantaneous healing. As I think back upon this, my heart is filled with love and gratitude for Christ Jesus, the master healer and Way-shower, and for Mrs. Eddy, who labored alone in the world to discover the Science of healing and give it to the modern age. Christian Science is truly a wonderful and practical religion.

As a very young girl, I first heard of the healing power of prayer as applied through the teachings of Christian Science when an aunt of mine was healed of cancer. The doctors had told her they had done all within their professional power to help her and could do no more. She wanted to live and take care of her family, and only then did she literally open her medicine cabinet and dispose of all the medicines and turn humbly and wholeheartedly to God to save her.

When word reached us months later that my aunt had been healed through Christian Science, I was tremendously impressed. I vowed secretly that when I left home to begin my professional career, I would seriously take up the study of this religion and make it my way of life. I had been reared in a Protestant religion and had learned to love and depend upon God, but there were many questions concerning life and my relationship to God and who He was that remained unanswered. Several years later I began attending the church services on Sundays and the Wednesday evening testimony meetings and was spiritually blessed.
