It is with a heart full of gratitude for Christian Science that I write this testimony. About seven years ago I injured my left hand, and there was considerable swelling in the wrist and arm, which were quite painful. I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment. At that time I was employed in an office, and because my retirement was due in a few months, I felt it was right for me to be at the office. So I continued to go every day and was even able to use a typewriter. Mrs. Eddy states in Science and Health (p. 385), "Whatever it is your duty to do, you can do without harm to yourself."

After a couple of weeks my employer asked me if I would go to a physician for an X ray. I agreed to do this. The physician examined my hand and told me that I had broken a bone but that it was knitting together nicely and added that if I had come to him earlier, he would have put it in a cast. He asked me to return in two weeks and said that if the break was not healed then he would have to operate.

When I arrived home, I opened Science and Health to page 319 and read, "Having faith in the divine Principle of health and spiritually understanding God, sustains man under all circumstances; whereas the lower appeal to the general faith in material means (commonly called nature) must yield to the all-might of infinite Spirit."
