I wish to express my unbounded gratitude for Mary Baker Eddy...

I wish to express my unbounded gratitude for Mary Baker Eddy and for the priceless gift she has given to the world, the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." Truly it is a key to the Scriptures and an infallible guide to health, happiness, and holiness. From the beginning of my study of Christian Science, I have been very grateful for this self-sacrificing woman, who loved all mankind, and I gained a deeper sense of gratitude and reverence for her after reading "The Life of Mary Baker Eddy" written by Sibyl Wilbur.

A fairly recent healing proved to me the great need for righteous thinking if one is to have a healthy body. For a period of several months I was experiencing pain and soreness in my leg. Knowing wrong thoughts produce a sick body, I set about to do some mental housecleaning. My prayer was to express more kindness, thoughtfulness, patience, and love. As long as the bodily disturbance was apparent, I knew thought was not completely healed; and I put forth more effort to express the desired qualities.

Error's crowning effort to prolong the case was exerted when I was unjustly accused of causing a misunderstanding. A deep sense of resentment was created in me, and much consecrated work was needed to prevent self-righteousness and criticism from entering thought. I prayed to have love and compassion for my accusers; and although expressing those qualities took a little time, the mental cleansing process became a great blessing.
