Man's Unity with Life
Christ Jesus' holy mission on earth was to reveal to humanity the great truth of man's inseparable unity with God. This truth was the essence of the Master's teaching and of his amazing demonstrations in healing sickness and raising the dead. He said, "As the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself." John 5:26;
Christian Science reiterates the Master's teaching that man's life has its source in God, infinite Spirit, and therefore that man's life is spiritual, without a single element of evil or materiality; that it is as pure and eternal as God, who is Life itself.
Our real selfhood expresses Life through time and eternity. The counterfeit of this selfhood is so-called mortal man. He believes that his life inheres in matter, in a material body, and that it is subject to matter and ends with the dissolution of the body. This false belief is corrected in Christian Science by the truth that all true being is forever united in one Life, God.
